Your 1-day full-day game drive to Akagera National Park, located in Eastern Rwanda on the border with Tanzania will give you a great experience to explore this only savanna national park where safari game drive can only be carried in Rwanda. Akagera National Park is known for harboring several wildlife and bird species. Akagera National Park is home to several mammal species including elephants, giraffes, hippos, kobs, zebras, bushbucks, waterbucks, and several bird species.
Day 1 – Transfer to Akagera National Park
Today early morning you will be picked up by your safari driver guide at about 5:00 am from your accommodation in Kigali and head for a day trip to Akagera National Park, which is about 2.5 hours away from Kigali. Akagera National Park is majorly a savannah park with elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, waterbucks, topis, and recently introduced lions.
On arrival at the park, you will proceed with a game drive in search of these wildlife and numerous bird species. The game drive can last about 4 hours depending on the animal sightings and interest. You will exit the park late in the afternoon and head back to Kigali to arrive in the evening around 7:00 pm.
