The 7 Days Gorilla Trekking, Gorilla Habituation, and Wildlife Safaris typically brings you to destinations of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for gorilla trekking, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and wildlife at Lake Mburo National Park. This trip starts from Kigali crosses borders to, Mgahinga, goes to Bwindi and Lake Mburo and ends at Kampal/ Entebbe. It’s a one-way driving safari right from Kigali Rwanda, to Kampala. The safari is packed with adventure activities but a bit relaxed.

Detailed Trip

Day1: Transfer from Kigali to Mgahinga 

Upon your arrival in Kigali, Entale African Safari experienced driver guide will be ready to pick you and drive through beautiful city of Kigali and transfer you to Uganda through and the immediate destination while be Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The drive can last for about 5 to 6 hours with lunch en-routes reaching the park check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day2: Gorilla Trekking, Batwa Community Visit and Transfer to Rushaga

This morning trek the only habituated gorilla family of Mgahinga. The trek goes through bamboos and it’s a very physical exercise of walking through the valleys and hike looking for the where the apes are located as for that moment. The trek can last between an hour to about 4 hours and finding the gorillas you have at least an hour in their presence. Be ready with a backpacker of enough drinking water, sweety energizing eats, and well dressed for the jungle.

Afterwards lunch, take a drive to the Batwa community for the entertaining Batwa cultural moments. On this cultural tour will be entertained with traditional songs and dances, tales and learning about their lifestyle.

Day3: Gorilla Habituation

The exercise starts earlier at 6am with the company of researcher, and park rangers. It’s recommendable to start the exercise after breakfast, and roll into the forest with a well packed backpacker. Gorilla habituation is a full day trekking exercise of following the apes learning their lifestyle and their behaviors. This process is aimed at causing the gorilla get used to human presence, being the apes are at times shy to bear human presence and others car rough and can attack in case of threat.

On gorilla habituation exercise, when meet with gorillas there are 4 hours of being in their presence following them whenever they go. After a successful follow, trek back to the starting point, refresh and drive back to your lodge and relax for the rest of the day.

Day4: Relaxing at Lake Bunyonyu

This is a beautiful scenic relaxation day, enjoy a picnic breakfast, and in the late morning hours take a boat ride to one of the islands on Lake Bunyonyi. One of the interesting islands to ride is punishment island where traditionally girls who used to conceive pregnancy before marriage where punished. Such girls were taken to the island and left there, starved and died on the island. This is the historical significance of the island, then can return to your lodge, refresh with lunch, and relax for the rest of the day.

Day5: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

This morning will take a relaxed drive to Lake Mburo National Park. The drive can be for about 6 hours reach the park with an en-route of Mbarara city for lunch and a tour at Igongo cultural center museum. A tour at the museum exposes you to learning more of the western Uganda culture and their recent way of life. Then reaching the park check-in at your lodge and rest.

Day6: Game drive and Boat cruise

Another day to enjoy this safari is sighting variety of wildlife in the savannah openings. Explore Lake Mburo National Park first with a morning game drive through various driving track. This is an opportunity of seeing variety of animals like zebras, impala, Uganda kobs, bushbucks, larger mammals like buffalos, hippos, giraffes among others. On a drive well also find rare species like lions, leopards lousily relaxed, and wild dogs among others. The game drive at the park is an opportunity of watching so many bird species plus a lot of games. This park is free from elephants; there are no chances of watching one.

Then also do afternoon boat lunch at Lake Mburo which is the largest among all lakes within the park. the boat cruise can last for about hours and is filled with exciting moments of seeing both water and land mammals. Among the aquatic life to encounter are the hippo, crocodiles, monitor lizards and so many water bird species. Also ill find a number of land mammals like buffalos, and zebras, giraffes seen at the shores of the lake drawing water or relaxed at the lake’s shores.

Day7: Horseback Riding and Transfer to Kampala

This morning enjoys a picnic served breakfast, this morning take a morning horseback riding.  The horseback riding is a special safari activity which is only designed for travelers to Lake Mburo national park. The horseback riding is arranged by Mihingo lodge and can last for to 3 hours with experienced riding guides.

Take a drive in the afternoon back to Kampala, with a lunch en-route to Kayabwe at the equator for photography and lunch. Reaching Kampala in the late evening hours, drop off at either your hotel/lodge in Kampala/ Entebbe or at Entebbe International Airport for your next flight back home.
