This 10 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking Safari typically brings to major destination of Kampala city, Kibale National Park, and Queen Elizabeth National Park. On this 10 Days Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking Safari will do some of the amazing adventures in Uganda like gorilla trekking, chimpanzees and wildlife game drives and boat cruises and all other adventures like they are presented in the detailed trip. Trip details

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe Airport

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Entale African Safaris’ experienced driver guide will be ready to pick up and transfer to your hotel in Kampala. Have a brief guide through the trip by your driver guide and rest at your lodge.

Day 2: Kampala city tour

Use this day to explore some of the amazing spots in Kampala capital. Will consider visiting some special historic places like Mengo place which holds much of the earlier awkward history of Uganda, and will also visit the former UNESCO Heritage site, the Kasubi tombs, and have a city view at Old Kampala Mosque. All will be visited with a lunch en-route as you visit to explore the three sites.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park

On the third day of the safari, will take an early morning transfer from Kampala to Kibale National Park. The drive through Mityana-Mubende-Fort Portal road take about 6 to 7 hours depending on the traffic flow. Lunch en-route is possibly to be taken from Mubende and reaching the park it will be afternoon hours.

Reaching Kibale National Park, will take a visit to the Bigodi community 6km from the park. The community is a model community showing how the locals are benefiting from chimpanzee conservation. Upon your visit to the community, can support their initiatives one way to support their conservation programs where they make variety of craft souvenirs among which you can also buy. Then, drive and check-in at your lodge, refresh, and rest for the next day.

Day 4: Chimpanzee habituation

This morning will roll into the forest very early at 6am, and this is done with guidance of researcher and park ranger who practice and experienced on following the wild chimpanzees until they are used to human presence. Chimpanzee habituation process need almost the all day to undertake the adventure. A group limited to 4 visitors is allowed to following chimpanzees under habituation. Habituation is about following chimpanzee daily for a period of not beyond 2years until they are used to human presence. The search to follow the chimpanzee can take about 30 minutes to 3 hours from the place where they had their previous night. Upon finding the chimpanzee, there are 4 hours in their presence following the apes wherever they are going.

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

This morning take a nature walk through the Bigodi wetland searching for different primate species, many bird species, opportunity for forest mammals, and insects like butterflies. A nature walk to Bigodi wetland brings you to the breeding area for several primate species. There are chances of watching over 13 primate species, Bigodi is an extension of Kibale Park. The forest harboring various wildlife including several bird species, different monkeys, and other land mammals. The nature walk is mainly to watch some of the primate species like black and white calobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, baboons, the watching statunga antelopes and several bird species.

Afterwards will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park about 3 hours’ via Kasese at the foothills of Mt. Rwenzori ranges. Reaching the park, check-in at your lodge and rest for the next day.

Day 6: Game drive and Boat cruise

It’s great recommendation to take an early game drive with packed breakfast, and enjoy a bit at wildlife watch under the sun rising arrays.  Expect a lot of mammals, bird species, some of the big fives mainly buffalos, elephants, lions and rarely leopards. Kaseny section is the best place to see wildlife at the park with a rich biodiversity. Some of the wildlife to watch include antelopes, warthogs, wild dogs, hippos, so many bird species among others. For about 3 hours the game drive goes through various driving tracks. The take a drive to Lake Katwe to encounters locals in salt mining afterwards return to your lodge for lunch.

Then, the afternoon boat launch at Kazing Channel an amazing adventures done on safari to Uganda. This boat launch is done on Kazing channel which is conduit of two small lakes Lake Edward and Lake Gorge. This boat launch is very amazing like there no other with a lot of pursuit including wild animals seen at the bank of the channel feeding, relaxing, and drawing water, a lot of aquatic life including hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards and a number of bird species. For those interested in butterflies it’s a common adventure here. After for about 2 to 3 hours return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This morning drive south of Queen Elizabeth National Park ‘Ishasha sector’, the drive is about 2hours reaching the location and will have an opportunity of watching tree climbing lions. Then will take a drive through various driving and on a good day, lions are found lousily relaxed under tree branches. The sector is a famous region in East African for hosting these amazing tree climbing lions.

Afterwards, with lunch en-route board to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and will reach the park in the evening hours and enter the park via Buhoma section, check-in at your lodge enjoy your dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 8: Trek Gorillas

Early morning following the delicious breakfast, will drive to the starting point before 7:30am. Will be briefed and grouped 8 per group and be assigned to a habituated gorilla family, then under the lead of an armed ranger guide will start a search through the inflatable thick terrain of the forest. Well equipped, wearing long pants, jungle boots, carry at least 1 litter of drinking water and rain proof gears. Gorilla searching in the jungle can go from 30 minutes to 4 hours to find your assigned gorilla family and upon finding them you have an hour in their presence. Searching for the endangered giants.

After seeing the gorillas you will return to the starting point, enjoy your relaxed lunch and take a rest at your lodge. Then in the later afternoon hours will take a drive to the Batwa community for cultural entertainment. Afterwards will take a drive to Kabale to Lake Bunyonyi, check-in at your lodge and rest for the next day.

Day 9: Lake Bunyonyi

This morning lousily transfer from Bwindi to Lake Bunyonyi and spend the all-day exploring this amazing African 2nd deepest lake. The jeweled with a simple and unique landscape view with amazing history of the region and lake. Among the things to do, will include a boat ride and visiting one of the islands on the lake. Reaching at the lake you will take a boat ride to one of the islands. At sunset will relax under melodies of many small birds like the name suggests.

Day 10: Transfer back to Kampala

The last day of the trip, enjoy a relaxed picnic breakfast at your lodge, then still in morning hours will depart for another day of a long journey driving back to Kampala. There is one expected stopover at Mbarara for lunch, and will reach Kampala by evening hours. Drop off will be either at Entebbe International airport or to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
