The 12-Day Rwenzori Hiking and Gorilla Trekking Safari takes you through the pristine Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home of Mountain Gorillas and Mt. Rwenzori National Park with the 3rd highest peak in Africa in western Uganda. This amazing Rwenzori and Gorilla safari offers breathtaking landscapes and an incredible gorilla trekking experience.

Tour Highlights
Day 1: Arrival and Pick Up from Entebbe International Airport
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and meet a professional tour guide from Bujo Safaris who will welcome you to the pearl of Africa, and later transfer you to the lodge for an overnight stay.
Upon arrival, your guide will take you through a briefing about the 12-day Rwenzori Hiking and Gorilla trekking Safari in Uganda.
Day 2: Transfer to Mt. Rwenzori National Park
Have an early morning breakfast, meet your guide and drive out of the capital Kampala as you head to Mt. Rwenzori National Park with a stopover in Fort Portal Tourism City for Lunch and some refreshments.
After lunch, en route to Kasese, where you shall have the next accommodation, as you prepare for hiking up in the Rwenzoris. Have dinner and an overnight stay at the Lodge.
Day 3: Start trekking and camp at Nyabitaba Hut
Have a restful breakfast and gather at the park headquarters for a briefing from the UWA park Rangers, learning about the dos and don’ts.
Embark on the trek through the montane Forests surrounded by hills and drained by streams from up in the mountains. Along the hike, you shall have a stopover from where you shall have refreshments, enjoy your packed lunch and a bit of relaxation.
Later, proceed to trek the massive Ridge to Nyabitaba camp, which is 1000m above the ground. Upon arrival, you shall set up your camping tents and relax as your guides prepare dinner. Enjoy your dinner at the campfire and have an overnight.
Day 4: Trek from Nyabitaba Hut to John Matte Hut
Enjoy an early morning breakfast prepared by your rangers with sweeping fresh air from the forests. Start an early morning trek through the bamboo with Views of Mount Stanley and Mount Speke.
Arrive at John Matte Hut, which shall be your next relaxing point and accommodation stay. Set up your tents, prepare your dinner and enjoy the meals around the campfire for warmth.
Day 5: Trek from John Matte to Bujuku Camp
Have a restful breakfast, arrange your camping tents and prepare for the next Day’s hike to Bujuku Camp, which is 3962m above sea level.
Embark on a trek where you shall meet the Bujuku River that goes through the lower Bigo bog that consists of the large lobelias. Have a stopover for lunch with views of Mount Stanley and Mount Baker, and later en route through Mount Baker and Mount Speke as you head to Bujuku camp.
Arrive at Bujuku Camp, set up your camping tents for accommodation and enjoy dinner prepared by the Rangers.
Day 6: Trek from Bujuku to Scott Elliot Camp (4541m)
Get up early in the morning, enjoy a mouth-watering breakfast, fold your tents and embark on the next day’s Hike.
Traverse through the ascending steep slopes in the forest at the ground gully. At this point, you can see Mount Stanley over the large boulders.
Arrive at Scott Elliot Camp, which is 4541m above sea level, set up your tents, prepare the meals and set up the campfires as you enjoy the tasty meals in the wilderness.
Day 7: Summit Margherita Peak (5101m) and Return to Scot Elliot Camp
Finally, the long-awaited day is here. Have a restful breakfast and kickstart the Day with views from the sun penetrating through forests. The trek involves traversing through the glaciers with fog and extreme cold that takes you up to the Margherita Peak.
Margherita Peak is the highest peak of Mountain Rwenzori at 5101m above sea level. Upon arrival, you shall have photo moments and collect memories from Mount Rwenzori National Park.
Enjoy your packed lunch and later descend to Scot Elliot camp, where you shall have the second night. Set up your camping tents, prepare dinner and enjoy the meal at the campfire.
Day 8: Descend to Bujuku Camp
Enjoy a hearty breakfast, pack all your luggage and descend to Bujuku Camp for a night and relaxation.
Day 9: Descend from Bujuku to Base Camp
On this day, you shall enjoy an early breakfast and slope back to the park headquarters. Upon arrival, you will meet your Guide as you conclude your Mt Rwenzori Hiking and later drive to your accommodation overnight.
Day 10: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Have an early Morning Breakfast, check out and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in southwestern Uganda and is home to the famous mountain gorillas. The park consists of over 400 mountain gorillas and other wildlife species such as L’Hoest Monkeys, black and white-tailed monkeys, vervet Monkeys, red-tailed Monkeys, baboons and some chimpanzees, including various species of birds.
Arrive at the Hotel Lodge, check-in and enjoy the beautiful views from the forest. Later, you shall have your dinner and overnight as you prepare for the next Day’s gorilla trekking.
Day 11: Gorilla Trekking and Relaxation
Wake up early, enjoy a mouthwatering breakfast at the lodge, and pack your Gorilla trekking requirements, including a camera and face mask. Meet your Guide and drive to the Visitor’s Information Centre.
Take a briefing from the UWA park rangers about the Gorilla trekking rules and regulations. After this, you shall be divided into groups of 8 and allocated a gorilla group with 2 rangers. It is important to note that a gorilla family is allocated not more than 8 people per trek.
Traverse through the impenetrable forests of Bwindi as you search for gorillas. During this time, you will have a chance to spot a variety of bird species, monkeys and baboons.
Upon meeting the gorillas, Visitors are allowed to spend 1 hour with the gorillas as they take many photographs and learn their behaviour.
Head back to the park headquarters, receive your gorilla trekking permits from Uganda Wildlife Authority for Gorilla trekking and later head back to the lodge.
Enjoy your meals and stay at the Lodge.
Day 12: Departure
Have an early morning breakfast, check out and transfer back to Entebbe International Airport with a stopover at the Equator for Photo Moments and lunch refreshments.
Later, en route to Entebbe International Airport, you conclude your 12-Day Rwenzori Hiking and Gorilla Trekking Safari.
