The 3 days gorilla trekking safaris are the shortest gorilla package to experience in Uganda especially when driving from Kampala. Though it’s a short safari trip, but one of the common package done by many travelers to Uganda. The trip leads to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, commonly known as gorilla capital with half of the remaining mountain gorilla population.

The means of transportation is road using the land cruiser 4×4 safari vehicle and the accommodation is midrange lodges/hotels. Every day of the trip starts with breakfast, has lunch en-route and ends as planned in the detailed itinerary.

Detailed Trip

Every day starts with breakfast, should have lunch en-route ends at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park from Kampala

This morning your driver guide from Entale African Safaris will pick you up from your lodge for a day long journey drive from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the drive will have two short stopover at Kayabwe for photographs at the equator, and at Igongo Cultural Center for lunch. Continuing on the journey will reach Bwindi Impenetrable National Park by late evening hours. Enter the park through Ruhija sector and check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Accommodation: Bakiga Lodge (dinner and overnight)

Day2: Trek gorillas and Visit the Batwa Community

This day will take an early morning drive from your lodge to Ruhija gorilla trekking starting point, it’s important to be in place at least at 7:30am. Packed with all your trekking requirements, clothed in long sleeved cloth, and jungle boots with a backpack of at least 1 litter of mineral water, and sweeter energizer. The be briefed and get group 8 in each group and by 8am will roll into the jungle under the lead of an armed ranger to initiate a search for the gorillas. Gorilla trekking can last between 30 minutes to 5 hours depending on the movement of the assigned habituated gorilla family. After a give walk and search for the giants, encountering them face to face you have an hour in their presence and at this time you just imagine how close these apes maybe your lost relatives.

After the trekking will walk back to the starting point, refresh and drive back to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon hours will take a drive to the closest Batwa community for the cultural experience with these pygmies who once co-lived with the gorilla before their forced eviction. Visiting these people simply will experience a narration about these rare people, be entertained with traditional songs and dances of their culture.

Afterwards, in the later evening hours return to your lodge and rest for the long day.

Day3: Transfer back to Kampala

This morning enjoy a picnic breakfast, and reluctantly will board for drive back to Kampala. Will consider an en-route at Igongo cultural center in Mbarara for lunch, also will consider taking a tour through their museum which narrates much of the western people of Uganda. Proceed on your drive to Kampala reaching by evening hours and drop of will either be at your hotel/lodge in Kampala/ Entebbe, or Entebbe International Airport for your next flight back home.
